Financial statements
Your reconciled invoices, turned into financial statements
InvoiceHive was invoice-first — now it carries a built-in double-entry ledger. Every reconciled invoice and bank match posts itself into the ledger, and from it InvoiceHive produces Costa Rica’s statutory financial statements. No separate books, and no re-keying into a spreadsheet.
A real ledger, posted from the documents you already have
Most invoicing tools stop at documents: they store invoices and, at best, show you totals. Producing a Balance de Situación or an Estado de Resultados then means re-keying everything into accounting software or a spreadsheet.
InvoiceHive closes that gap. Behind the reconciliation you already do sits a double-entry ledger that posts automatically: an invoice creates its accrual entry, a matched bank line records the settlement, and currency differences are recognized as realized FX. The statements are computed from those postings — so the reports and the underlying invoices can never drift apart.
The statements you get
The four statutory statements a Costa Rican accountant expects, plus the supporting reports that make them auditable. Choose a month, quarter, year, or a custom date range on every one.
Balance Sheet
Assets, liabilities, and equity as of any date — with the balance check that assets equal liabilities plus equity.
Income Statement
Revenue and expenses over a period, down to net income, grouped by account.
Statement of Changes in Equity
Opening balance, movements, and closing balance for each equity account.
Cash Flow Statement
Operating, investing, and financing activity that reconciles to the change in cash.
Trial Balance
Every account with its debit and credit balance, and a warning if entries do not balance.
General ledger drill-down
Click any line on any statement to open the transaction-level entries behind that account.
Reports an accountant can trust
Auto-generated numbers are only useful if they hold still. Two guarantees are built into the ledger by design:
Frozen historical exchange rates
Each entry stores the reference exchange rate of its own day, ingested daily from the official source. Reports for a past month are computed with the rates that applied then — they are not recalculated when today’s rate moves.
Immutable closed periods
Closing a month locks it against new entries and runs an automatic foreign-exchange revaluation. A closed period never changes silently; reopening it is a deliberate, recorded action.
Statements are consolidated in Costa Rican colones (CRC) as the functional currency, with foreign-currency invoices carried at their frozen rates and revalued at close.
The accounting controls behind them
The ledger does most of the work automatically, and leaves you the controls a bookkeeper needs when it doesn’t:
Automatic posting
When an invoice is extracted and when a bank line settles it, the matching journal entries are posted for you — accrual, settlement, and realized FX included.
Manual journal entries
Add your own balanced entries when you need to, with a live debit-equals-credit check before you post.
Opening balances
Set each account’s starting balance when you onboard; anything left unbalanced is plugged to a suspense account you can resolve.
Period close & reopen
Close a month to lock it against new entries; reopening is explicit and recorded, never silent.
Built for Costa Rica
The statements follow the four Costa Rican statutory reports, the electronic invoice (factura electrónica) is parsed natively — Clave, consecutivo, and CABYS included — and the whole product runs in Spanish and English. When it is time to file, your numbers are already reconciled and your statements already built. InvoiceHive does not file your return — it gives you the reconciled figures and the statements that back it.
